PCR and Virgin Plastic Packaging: Approval Checklist

Compare PCR and virgin packaging proposals by grade, recycled-content evidence, appearance and filled-pack performance before approving a material change.

Containers only — no compounding or filling. Claims are limited to verified capability.

Compare the actual proposed material grades, not only the labels PCR and virgin. For a recycled-content request, identify what content claim is being made and which component it covers.

Ask for the evidence behind the claim

Request the supplier and grade designation, the stated recycled-content basis and the documentation supporting it. Clarify whether the figure applies to one component or the entire pack. Do not infer a package-level percentage from a bottle-body claim.

Use the same functional requirements

Review areaQuestion for both proposals
Component fitDoes the sample meet the approved drawing and assembly requirements?
Formula contactWhat evidence and filled-product testing cover the intended use?
AppearanceWhich color and surface reference will be accepted?
Dispensing and sealingDoes the complete pack meet the agreed functional criteria?
SupplyWhich grade and component revision will repeat orders use?
ClaimsWhat wording is supported for the target market and actual pack?

Do not assume either proposal will behave identically to a previously approved grade. Review any difference in the supplied specification and agree the sample work needed.

Approve the change in writing

Keep the material evidence, component revision and accepted sample with the order. Oulete must confirm availability and minimums for a recycled-content version before it becomes part of the production specification.

Request a material comparison or see resin selection and material declarations.

Put the specification to work

Build a material evaluation brief. The tool shows its inputs and limits before you use the result in a project brief.
