Do not assume a container is suitable for hot filling from its resin name or appearance. Give the supplier the actual filling and cooling conditions and obtain approval for the selected container and closure.
Record the process conditions
State the fill temperature, duration, cooling sequence and any handling or capping steps. Identify the exact material, container drawing and closure. The filler should review the trial plan with the packaging supplier.
Compare the critical features
Measure the agreed neck and fit features before and after the trial using the approved method. Record the observations and the sample identity. Check the assembled closure, sealing behavior and any visible distortion under the defined conditions.
Decide against the specification
A change in shape requires investigation against the approved dimensions and functional requirements. Ask whether the material, geometry or process must change; do not approve a pack solely because it appears acceptable immediately after filling.
